About Me

Diane E. Israel

Diane has been a miniaturist all of her life starting at age seven when she started to draw and paint. All through grade school and high school, Diane took art lessons and never looked back. Majoring in fine art and art history, Ms. Israel received a BA in art with a certification to teach K-12 from William Paterson University. In 1987, Diane opened Essex Fine Arts, a full service art and framing gallery in downtown Montclair. After closing the gallery in 2015, Diane continued to work in Montclair, first at the Montclair BID (Business Improvement District), the Montclair History Center and finally C3 Workplace.

Ms. Israel’s focus in retirement is teaching the art of miniatures through many different media and venues.

Diane now has more time to devote to her passion – Miniatures and miniature paintings for dollhouses. The art pieces can be as small as a fingernail or about the size of a business card. The challenge is always to see – how small can you go!
