In January of 2025, the Miniature Art Society of Florida held their highly anticipated 50th anniversary show in the charming town of Dunedin, Florida. This remarkable event, featuring over 500 entries from talented artists across the region, ran for three memorable weeks at the Creative Pinellas Art Gallery, a hub for creativity and artistic expression in Dunedin. Among the stunning array of artwork, Judge Debra Keirce, a renowned figure in the art community, had the difficult task of selecting the best pieces. After careful consideration, she chose my watercolor miniature, “Gnome Ones Home,” as the second-place winner in the competitive Florals and Botanicals category. This recognition not only filled me with immense pride but also highlighted the vibrant talent present in the miniature art world, showcasing the dedication and passion of all artists involved. The exhibition served as a celebration of artistry and community, drawing in visitors from near and far, all eager to experience the intricate works on display and connect with fellow art enthusiasts.

In a cozy and inspiring atmosphere, we will be painting a ½ by ⅜ watercolor micro mini, that can be transformed into a magnet or a delightful piece of artwork to adorn your dollhouse or room box. Scaled at 1/12, this adorable creation will be a perfect addition to your miniature collection, serving as a charming focal point that draws the eye and sparks the imagination. All the necessary materials for the class will be provided to ensure a seamless experience, but you are more than welcome to bring your own favorite brushes and paints if you prefer to work with tools that you are already familiar with. To beautifully showcase your finished artwork, frames are also included, allowing you to present your tiny treasure with pride. All skill levels are welcomed, as we believe that everyone has a unique creative spark waiting to be ignited. Unleash your creativity and paint a charming gnome dwelling that will transport you to a magical realm, and take home not just a piece of art, but a treasured memory of fun and inspiration shared with fellow enthusiasts!
Miniature Affiliations
Art-in-Minature is now a member of both the IGMA and NAME, the premier associations for miniaturists in America.
IGMA stands for the International Guild of Miniature Artisans. Once you have been a member for one year, you can apply to become an artisan and then a fellow in the organization. Your work has to be the best of the best to be asked to be an artisan and to be judged by your peers. The work of IGMA artisans and fellows is absolutely amazing and hard to imagine how the work was made. IGMA is based in Florida but holds its annual convention in New Jersey.
NAME stands for the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts and is based in Indiana. Their national convention is in Franklin, TN. NAME’s mission is to promote miniatures through education, building and collecting through the sharing of experience and ideas.
